STUDENT PROFILE:
JUDY HOLLIDAY
While on a trip to Cassis, France,
I strolled along the small harbor near sundown. I was
struck by the lovely light and colorful reflections of
water and boats resting quietly. I wanted to capture
those reflections in a painting. I was pleased with the
result so more paintings of boats followed resulting
in the series "Cassis Harbor Reflections."
ARTIST STATEMENT
I enjoy painting a variety of subjects, however I need
to feel connected to the subject in some way. If it’s
a still life, it might be a pretty family vase or plate
handed down to me. My landscapes are often inspired
by my travel photos, such as those from trips
to Europe and to the scenic western U.S. Some of
these have been my most successful paintings and
have also been fun to paint, allowing me to revisit
those places in my art. |
